Prayer is basic to the life of those seeking to follow Jesus. Yet, many people are uncertain how to pray. Even the disciples asked “Lord, teach us to pray . . .” (Luke 11:1).
This year, during the season of Lent, you are invited to join a five-week small group study that is focused on prayer. The DVD study will be based on Max Lucado’s “Before Amen: The Power of a Simple Prayer.”
These small groups, which will begin the week of February 22, will meet once a week at various times and in various places. Four sessions will be centered around Lucado’s study and the fifth week will provide an opportunity for the group to engage in an “act of service.” The nature of that “act of service” will be determined by the group. It could range from volunteering to help with a meal at the rescue mission to making cards for shut-ins.
In addition to providing a time for folks to learn more about prayer, these Lenten small groups will also provide an opportunity for people to get to know one another outside of worship and to offer support and encouragement to one another.
This is going to be a great experience for all who participate and we hope that you will sign up for one of our groups. Contact the church office for more information on how to sign up to participate.
