Once again this summer, Central Christian Church will focus several efforts to make a difference in Danville. This effort began this past weekend as a team from our congregation volunteered with the Great American Cleanup. Their work was focused on the downtown area as they gathered with many others from Danville and Vermilion County to clean up the downtown area, plant flowers and more.
Later this summer, a group from our church will participate in the Group Work Camp that is being held here in Danville. Our young people and adults will join with 200+ other youth and adults from various communities across the United States making repairs and improvements to the homes of people in need in our community. We also expect that a group of men from our congregation will work on a couple of home repair projects in our community later this summer.
In addition, the Nurture and Growth committee is planning a neighborhood block party for late July as a way of reaching out to our neighbors.
All of this is in addition to the ongoing contribution of food to the Danville Township Food Pantry, our partnership with Love in the Name of Christ, and the financial support that our congregation provides to several organizations in our community as well as our work with the City Center Neighborhood Association.
We do all of this as a way of sharing the love and life-giving ministry of Jesus Christ with others in our community. It is our desire to have a positive impact on people throughout this community.
