Holy Thursday (sometimes called Maundy Thursday) will be observed at Central Christian Church on April 13th, at 7:00 pm. Holy Thursday marks Jesus’ final gathering with his disciples in the upper room before his arrest and crucifixion. Several significant moments define that meeting – Jesus’ washing of the disciples’ feet, Jesus’ command to love one another as he has loved us, and the first enactment of the Lord’s Supper, to name a few. In scripture, song, and celebration of the Lord’s Supper, we will revisit those events in a moving and meaningful service. We hope to see you there.
Join us this Easter, April 16, 10:00 AM as we come together for a joyful worship praising God for the good news of Easter. The sanctuary will be beautifully decorated, there will be special music, an Easter message and, of course, the celebration of communion. The morning will begin with a light breakfast in the Community Room at 9:00 AM and Easter Egg Hunt for the children at 9:30 AM. This will be a Sunday you don’t want to miss! So, mark it on your calendar.
Our Easter prayer vigil this year will fall on Good Friday (April 14th) from 6:00 a.m. to noon. You will have the opportunity to sign up for a half hour of prayer in the vigil. In this special time, we will want to pray especially for the work of our search committee and for the future ministry of Central Christian Church. God answers prayer. Come and be a part of this special ministry!
Pastor Bob Arnold’s Final Four Sermons
September 3 (Labor Day Weekend) – “Shameless Audacity” – Luke 11:5-13
Focuses on encouragement to be bold in asking for, seeking after, and knocking on the door of spiritual wisdom, insight and gifts.
September 10 (Stewardship Sermon) – “Where Your Heart Will Be” – Matthew 6:19-24
Focuses on the notion that our hearts end up attaching to whatever it is we treasure and pursue. We think it goes the other way around, but our hearts will actually gravitate to where we invest our time, talent, treasure, and energy. Similarly, what you come to own will come to own you. You cannot be owned by God and owned by worldly riches at the same time.
September 17, 2017 – “Think About Such Things” – Philippians 4:4-8
Focuses on the importance of choosing deliberately to focus on what is good and positive and true to the peace of our own souls and to our ability to rejoice in God regardless of the situation.
September 24, 2017 (The Bean Thing) – “God Gives the Growth” – 1 Corinthians 3:5-17
Focuses on the notion that all growth of the church comes from God, God working through persons to be sure, but primarily from God. Keeping a foundation on Jesus Christ and guarding the community as the temple of the Holy Spirit are all that matters.
